Archery is a great sport for adults and youth to develop strength, strong problem-solving skills, increase focus and determination, learn goal setting, build confidence and create friendships that will last a lifetime. Whether your interest is purely recreational shooting, or you want to be an Olympian, Paralympian or World Champion, Junior Olympic Archery Development clubs (JOAD) offer coaching, training and event preparation for all archery disciplines to help archers achieve their goals.
Our coaching staff, led by Mike Gerard and Jay Barrs, is phenomenally qualified—like no other. Mike is the owner of Jurassic Archery and has developed and manufactures numerous archery products. As a competitive archer he has won three National Championships and represented the U.S. internationally. He teaches compound as well as Olympic-style recurve. Jay has won Olympic Gold and Silver medals, has two World Championships, and 21 National Championships. His experience as a competitor gives him an unmatched perspective as a coach. His coaching philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that archery should be both an art and a science. He emphasizes mental fortitude as much as physical precision. Mike and Jay have both given seminars nationally and internationally for over 35 years to beginner and world class archers. Together, they ensure that every student receives world-class coaching and guidance tailored to their individual journey. They form a team dedicated to fostering both talent and passion, nurturing the next generation of archery champions.
